The Business of Media in Television: McDonald's would like to present..... McTV!
This article from the Wall Street Journal states that
While the TV channel will generate advertising revenue from commercials, McDonald’s is hoping McTv will also encourage guests to eat inside, ordering seconds or desserts.
McDonald’s is miles ahead of its competition. From Reuters -
Wendy’s reported a 1.8% rise in quarterly sales which translates to $611 million. Analysts were expecting a 1.9% or a $618 million rise in sales. In contrast, McDonald’s reported a 5.5% gain in sales, exceeding analysts’ expectations.
So, McDonald’s is no longer competing with just Wendy’s or Burger King. They appear to have taken on diverse operations like Starbucks, Applebees and sports bars.
